Hi SMF'ers.
My name's Ron and I'm from Arlington, Tx. 55 yrs. old, 2 kids,(grown & gone), till they hear I'm firin' up the smoker, then they somehow find their way back home. I have a Brinkmann SmokinPit...is this the ECB? Any way...Just a beginner, 3 briskets, half-a-dozen baby backs and 1 turkey and some how they all came out fantastic...mainly because of what I've read here, thanks! Working on doin' some mods that I picked up here so I can say I have a "modified" ECB.
Lookin' forward to lots of ideas and post and QVIEWS!
Thanks Again!

Welcome to the forum! I am new as well and hail from Austin. I use a SFB pit and am learning tons from the folks on this site as well. I smoked my first Chuckie last Saturday and it turned out great. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Dave

Hi torchrider, I guess I have a SFB....lol...not sure,(it does have a side box) I guess I will pick up on all of that soon enough. The Chuckie sounds good..gotta try it. Ron

Ron welcome to SMF glad you decided to join in. The ECB is a vertical smoker so its not what you have. If you hold your cursor over any of the abbreviations that are in the bold colors it will tell you what the abbreviation stands for. Have fun and happy smoking

Thanks to the welcoming committee...lol I did Pinewoods, and seeing some of the equipment on here I just figured mine was the El Cheapo...:)

I'm also from Austin. Welcome to this forum. You're going to love it here and soon be obsessed with what to smoke next.

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview. And yes your smoker is the ECB, not a bad little smoker.

Welcome to the forums, my sister lives just south of you in Mansfield and I am a little east over in Red Oak TX. This is a great place to fellowship, watch qview and learn.

First off welcome Ron to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are abunch of good folks here that would just love to help you out with just about anything to do with smoking. We really like to have newbies here because they can bring in a new propective to how things are done. There's nothing like a new set of eyes to give and new way to make things that little differant to make things alittle better. So I hope you know about the Qview here.

It's also free and it will give you the basics of smoking. So after all of that you just need to go grab something to smoke and if you have any question just post them here and we will answer it quickly so you don't have any mishaps with your smoke.
Welcome To Your New Addiction

Thanks for the warning Roller, it's already starting to take away from what I spend on Bass fishing but I have waaaay too much tackle anyway. Maybe I could could combine them.....anyone ever smoke bass?
I wish there was a "General Discussion" area, I'm up at 4 am and would like to just get on and say good mornin' and talk about what's going on for the day, a really good way to get to know people better. I suppose I could go to every forum and post "GOOD MORNIN, SMF"...well maybe not! :)

Welcome, I'm y'all's neighbor right down the street in SW Fort Worth, age 59, kids grown too but oldest son (35) likes to help process and smoke sausages, turkeys, chickens, etc. Did a ham for Easter that came out great! Youngest (30) is just getting into it, getting over a divorce. Don't hesitate to ask questions, send PM's, just say howdy. You can join in the chat rooms too if someone's in there, or just set a spell and others will get on too. I'm an early riser also, (3:30AM every morning) and PM me and we can swap YIM's if ya want. Post lots of Qview because we all love to drool!
