Im new to this and having a lot of trouble finding granulated onion, any help is appreciated.
McCormick's and Penzy's sells it among others. I read that you see it in recipes because onion powder is very hygroscopic meaning it soaks up humidity in the air and clumps. Lot's of anticaking additives are added to prevent that so it can be less flavourful then granulated onion.

to SMF! We are so glad you joined us! I have found the granulated garlic at Costco....and have not been able to find the Granulated onion around my stores here. Bama is right tho.
We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF). To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.
If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do. There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!
If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler! Happy to help out!
Welcome to the SMF Family...Just a little FYI...Many companies do not make a labeling distinction between Onion Powder and Granulated Onion. Same goes for Garlic, they will both be labeled Onion Powder. You need to look at the jar, Onion Powder is ground very fine like Baby Powder, Granulated Onion looks like Beach Sand. So you may not see a bottle Labeled Granulated Onion or Garlic but they may be there...JJ
Granulated onion powder and garlic works well mixed in sauces, finishing sauces any type of roux etc. The powder dissolves much easier than granulated spices. Granulated is my go to for any rubs or when used on meats etc.....But personal preference plays a big roll. Welcome to SMF...glad you are here with us...........RTBBQ.....
Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
