In the woods of upstate new york
I moved about an hour away over the summer, my older kids still live where I used to and we were in their town, my old one, today. Went to see the butcher their was like seeing and old friend.

I think we were both happy when I checked out and no long store lines. Well worth the trip in my book, and he said if I need large orders or special cuts just call and he will have them ready.

Shouldn't all service be like that, reminds me of how my grandfather used to speak of the stores in his town.

that is true
if you have a good butcher, you can sometimes something special questions
and you've always nice meat

It is nice to have somebody like that. Specially a butcher so you can get good meat and that is hard to find. I would make the trip and pay alittle more for the main reason that you know this butcher and you know what your getting is a good selation of meat.

Those are some especially nice looking plump frankfurters! Mouth watering thinking about them on the grill with some of that horsy-sauce you got. You had a great trip, buddy, make sure you go back once in a while

I may have to go see your butcher and check him out. I live on the east side but work out in the Chili area.

Yep, I know what you mean we finally got a local butcher again. It's great you walk in and get great service.

nice haul there.

A good local butcher is a great thing to have. I luckily have (2) one 15 miles East in Morris that has the best pork around, and one about 10 miles to the west that I get beef from. You cannot beat getting product from local folks, and keeping the money local vs to the chains.

That is a nice score! Although I mostly shop Krogers, the cutter there is old-school enough to know what to order when I make a special request. Plus it doesn't hurt to brighten up their day when I show up with some hot off the smoker ribs or pulled pork!

WOW, that was a good trip, If I were you I would go visit more often...

Rockin trip. We have a couple butchers around but I have found there is a big diffrence between the shops that carve the meat and the ones who buy it all cryo packed. Of the 4 butcher shops around us only one really cuts their own meat. He gets most of our business. The others are selling the same crappy brand I can buy at Sams. I hat meat that smells..... When I buy it from the guy who carves it there is no strange colors or odd smells, it is just meat. Ya never know what you are getting when you tear open a cryo pack.
