Getting your RF or SF up to Temp Quickly

If you are like me sometimes you need your smoker to get up to Temp ASAP.

Weed Burner !!!

If I am not in a hurry, I'll light a chimney full of charcoal then dump it and a split or two into my firebox.

But when it's cold, or I am in a hurry I do this.

Put my charcoal or splits in my firebox, Open the Cook Chamber Door & Stack Vent

Fire up my trusty Weed Burner, then start going over my grates and inside the cook chamber

Top, sides, ends and especially the RF plate, Warm. warm warm !!

Then I go to the Firebox , Lots of heat under the RF plate then Light my split or charcoal and in no

Time you are up to Temp  around 225º for me.

You guys with the SF basically the same thing.

Good example:

This morning I got up a little before 6:00 AM to Smoke a Brisket, Pork Butt and some Chickens.

At 6:00 AM I started getting my smoker ready after about 10 to 12 min. 15 at the very most I had a

fire blazing in the FB. Came in and go my PB and Brisket Trimmed and seasoned and by 6:30 I was at 225º  The outside was 49º

Hope this is useful to some

Probably keeps the weeds from growing around the Smoker too!!

Although I don't think weeds will grow around a busy Smoker, Like Gary's Smoker!!

Love the BIG fire makers!

You also hit on a great point, the burner in the grates also helps to degunk them before the cook starts.

Would love to see a video of you in full on fire bug mode with the burner!

Thanks CB,  Yep it gets rid of any leftover Whatever.

I cooked Chickens for 3 neighbors  The one next door said I new you were smoking something I heard you fire it up sounds like a jet taking off

Great idea Gary!

Never thought to warm up the inside of the smoker with the weed burner.

Also an easy way to clean the RF plate.

Thanks for the tip!

Should have posted this years ago. Next time you fire yours up try it.

Our friends in the colder areas will really like this method

Been using my weed burner for years to get the firebox blazing. Also have a manifold under the RF plate that I stick the weed burner into, that I can add extra heat for searing, or just to raise my temps. Sealed off with a cap when not using it.

Just go easy with the weed burner on the expanded metal cooking grates. Too much and they start to sag. I didn't ruin them but they had a severe low spot after the weed burner degunking burn

Great Point John   Glad you added that   Thank you
