I had a model x plaid for a month, and traded it in for a model Y. Fun?...very! oh, man!! Getting on the freeway was the best part of my day!!! But the insurance on it is expensive! Kills all the savings.
I charge at home and at work. I did the math and can charge about 80% of the battery (because I keep it under 80% charge for battery health unless its a long trip) for about $4-5ish dollars. Thats about 250 miles of travel.
My home was built in the 80s and in the dead of the summer we spend a lot to cool the house cause its not super efficient so we added solar and yes the bill is a little higher but hardly noticeable.
If you're thinking about getting one, look at how much it will cost to insure it first. Repairing a Tesla is super expensive, and that's why insurance sucks. You can go through private insurance (which will be the most expensive) or through Tesla itself.
If you go through Tesla, the car gives feedback on how you drive and your insurance will adjust based on that. So they monitor you....which I hate...but it cuts the price of insurance in half.
Also its essentially zero maintenance. No oil. You only have to change break pads on average every 100,000 miles due to regenerative braking. Just tires when you need them.
Won't lie, after I tried out the full self driving I was sold. If you're interested in that, you're going to want a model that has the most up-to-date computer which is "computer 4". I've hardly driven the last couple of months!
