It was just a salt, black pepper and paprika rub. This one is one I got a while back from someone my wife works with. I've used it before on butts and a brisket and they turned out with good flavor. Hopefully it works well this attempt too.

Ahhh, less is best.  Welcome to the dark side, King....

It's only a 4lb flat. I'm hoping it won't turn into a game night meal. [emoji]128512[/emoji]

Yes Groucho I'm a glutton for punishment. I love brisket and am just too damn stubborn to let it beat me. I'll get it down one of these times.... hopefully!

Oh, you will, sir:  you're on the right track with that minimalistic rub.  You'll enjoy the pecan (note:  "puh-KAHN", not "PEE-can") bath as well.  Good luck!

That looks like a winner, King:  hopefully it tastes as nice as it looks!  Hope you're a Cats' fan and not a Cards' fan, else you're probably not feeling much like eating at this point.  Speaking of points, one for you and that brisket.

Thanks Groucho! Unfortunately I'm a big Cards fan so not feeling great, but a loss wasn't going to keep me from eating some tasty brisket. There's always next season!

Thanks you all. 5 hours on the smoker brought it up to a 195 IT. Then I let it sit covered in the cooler for 2 hours before cutting. It's definitely one of my better efforts I've had a few that didn't come out as nice.
