Hi All, I moved to the UK recently and brought my MES 30 with me, which I use with a transformer for 220 to 110v. No issues until last night when I accidentally plugged it into the 220v outlet on the transformer (not even beer involved, just dumb!) The display came on for about 10 secs then went off.

What have I blown? Is the whole circuit board in the controller at the top or is there another board for the power supply?

Thanks for any help.

Vin

Sounds to me like a good opportunity to scrap the M-built electronics and get a PID controller.
Thanks Braz, sounds like I have some reading to do. Any suggestions or pointers?

Everything you need to know:
And
Tallbm is the guru.

Thanks guys, any idea what will have fried? Will I need anything else replaced other than getting a PID?

During the 10s, were you trying to heat up? That might have been enough time to fry your heating element as well. You may want to assess its state of health before nickel and diming things. Then again, you may just have a few fuses blown.

Unplug it and turn it over . Take the inspection cover off the bottom . Look for any signs of failure . Black or burnt parts . Should also have one on the back . Look in there too .
If you do the re wire Tallbm put out , the only inner part that gets used is the limit switch . The rest of the stuff will be bypassed . You can do the rewire and see if it heats up . Just don't leave it plugged in .
