those 2 momentos are perfect before and after.
Yup , thanks . The rose itself is still hanging at Mom's house . 25 % chance I'll end up with it , if it doesn't disappear between now and " then " .
Yeah , I figure if I want to try the rose , I'll get some yellow pine reprint the pattern . Leave that last one sitting in my shop .

Nice peice for sure . Probably bandsaw , scroll saw and dremel work .
Started with a flat board and a printed template of the subject matter glued to it .
Big thing is knowing were to start with this stuff .
I've tried , and just can't get it .
My Dad did hand carving , a 2D rose on Rosewood .

I have all his carving tools , and found this one last
blank in his shop after he passed .
I think I'll just leave it as is . I'd just mess it up . Lol .
But that's how it starts .

Thanks!

Beautiful Rich! Amazing art and keepsakes as well. Thanks for sharing.

WOWWWW... That's some meticulous work right there... I keep going back to look at it.. looking at the detail... really liking that...

The carving reminded me of a passed member... He did some awesome work with a chainsaw..

RIP @Bearcarver

Hey all, my better half was at an estate sale yesterday and was looking at these. They were ready to shut down and told Nicole… “You like those”? Nic said well they are kinda neat. The lady said… “we are shutting down early… 50 cents for both and they are yours”! Nic said, well ok. So here’s what she brought home… Looking at these, someone definitely spent some time on crafting them.

Thought these were cool and was worth sharing.
Now you're entering my wheelhouse.
Here's a little info on your decoys, you made a great investment, although I do not think they are the early signed models, they are still really cool birds.
In my opinion they are worth $60 to $400 depending on the market, and how bad someone needs them to fill out their collection. Either way you scored, even if they are CNC routered or duplicator lathed, and I'm not saying they are, but they could be. They can reproduce some amazing decoys on a duplicator lathe, they rough shape them out on the lathe, then finish them off with hand work. Do they sound hollow when you knock on the back or bottom of them?

If you really want to know what they are worth scroll down to the bottom of this page, and contact a few dealers, they will be able to dial in an exact price by sending them a few pictures.

You made a great purchase, personally I'd give you $200 for the pair if that peaks your interest? I wouldn't sell them if I were you, but if you don't need them or have a spot for them, I do!!! :emoji_laughing::emoji_sunglasses:

Enjoy your new birds!!!
Dan.

WOW! $0.50!! Just the wood is worth more than that as firewood! You know I'm a duck hunter right? Those decoys are worth way more than 50 cents!
