I picked up a set of GrillGrates to use on my Traeger and Weber gas grill.

If you flip them over to use the flat top side, do you need to put them on perpendicular to your factory grates? So that the GrillGrates grates do not fall down in between the factory grates?

Thanks!

I would not think so. If they do go through there should be no issue, unless the plates separate and become uneven...JJ

I would say yes to prevent that from happening,I dont have any but can see where that would happen

Good question.

I tend to agree with Chef Jimmyj, but me being me, if cross grain was more stable, I'd likely do that.
I don't think there would be any difference in how they heat and work.
Probably would entirely rest on stability. You don't need your cooking surface moving when you run a spatula across it chasin your bacon, or handling your ham steak.
Or any other flattop type of work.
