Cooked baby backs for the first time on my new "used" Traeger Texas grill and any doubts about this grill were eliminated! A friend of mine who has a lang said he could not believe how well the grill worked, he is now considering on adding one to his collection. I hope to post some pictures in the near future, I am trying some brisket next weekend. Thanks for everyones input! Dan

congrats on a great stea.....i mean deal and a sucessful smoke!

while you are serving up great Q off your Traeger, there will be a component of satisfaction only you will enjoy, YOU STOLE THAT TRAEGER for the price you paid! Your friend may get himself a new Traeger, unless he gets a similar deal you will always savor and enjoy your traeger cooked goodies more.

I don't no what others with Traegers do with brisket, but I have found out that in my opinion you should do them fat down in a Traeger because the fat protects it from the heat below it, otherwise the non fat side gets very hard and dry

I agree with Kurt. I start with the fat side up but flip it fat side down after 3-4 hours. Otherwise the bottom gets a bit dry. Some call it bark, I call it burnt stuff. This is only my opinion. I will admit I am nowhere close to an expert on Brisket.

Sounds like you are a lucky guy! A buddy of mine has a treager and loves it. Starts a smoke in the morning on the way to work, checks on it at lunch and its done when he gets home.

Now I'm really glad you had a good smoke on your Traeger. But you know: If theses no Qview it didn't happen don't you.
