49,212cu."the CC/RFP opening is 197SQ "and the area under the RFP and the area at the end of the RFP.is the same, My required or min.Cu." of the fire box is 16,240- my box is 23,040, as you can see it is actually quiet lg, I'm thinking of some fire brick.the ESV. That I am using is 6" ID and at 36 " it is a bit short of the 0.022 (1082 ideal ) I have 1018 at36, I can get the preferred by going to 38". Or stay at 36 just use 0.0250, not sure about this. One other thing is the circle calc was very helpful in the CC/RFP CALCULATIONS very easy to use great job there, thanks again and I look forward to hearing back.

In my previous post concerning the ESV I stated the 0.022 could not be reached w/a stack hight of 36", but 36 could be achieved by using 0.025, I should have said 0.02050, I am curious if that is sufficient, help me here if anyone has a thought on this, Thanks a lot.

For the exhaust stack, I'd go with 7 or 8" stack ~36" above the CC... constriction in a gravity flow is not good... bigger is mo betta... Dave

Been able to make a little progress over the past several days. Still wrangling to get the reverse flow plate in. Probably have to cut one side off to get it in there and then weld it back together. Found some really sturdy hinges out of a truck I plan to use on the doors.

Made a little more progress. Got the RF plate in and the opening cut for the FB going into the CC. I have a couple of questions to pose to the group. The smoker is going to be mounted on a trailer. Is there a place where a guy can go and get information about the correct weight and placement for putting counterweights on the CC doors, similar to the RF calculator? My doors weigh about 35 lbs and I am thinking counterweights will be the best for opening the doors and keeping them open. The second question is about a side burner. I have a burner from a water heater I'm thinking about using for that purpose. What valves would work best on that burner for controlling the heat for cooking beans, etc?

Some folks heat stuff inside the smoker or on top of the FB... If the FB is too hot, place some wire between the pot and the top of the FB to elevate it from the hot metal... I used that technique on my wood stove in elk camp...
Beans are good when cooked in the smoke... or covered with foil to limit the smoke...

Getting closer to the finish line. Did the plenum and then reworked it because I didn’t like it but I think it’s where it needs to be and I like the looks of it. The exhaust is 6” diameter pipe. Added a vertical handle to the side air vents to the firebox and got that all welded in place. Had to cut off about 15” from the tail end of the trailer to give the FB door room to open. Thinking about putting a frame on the FB door to try to prevent warping there. Still have to add counterweights to the doors and add the perimeter insulation there. Planning to come up vertical from the doors, then back at about a 45 toward the backside of the CC and see how that works out. Right now the doors will only open as far as what’s shown in the picture where it’s in the trailer, so counterweights are a must. Still need to put racks in and get it all painted. If anybody knows of a good inexpensive paint for the high temp application, please let me know. Looking to use black for most of it and some red for the doors and support legs, etc. Also, found the correct fittings for my gas burner and got it working as well. It will sit inside a pot I cut the bottom off of and built supports inside to support a large stockpot. Overall, pretty pleased with the way it’s going and I hope to finish by the end of the week.

Basically have it done. Just need to get the table stained and varnished. Also found out how fragile the temp gauges are and have to replace those. The forums were a huge help in getting this finished and putting out some meat. Thanks to all those that helped out along the way!
