Thanks for the like Eddie! I did it so the rub would get down into the meat and to help the smoke penetrate into the meat better as well. Followed one of bearcarver's pulled pork recipes from his step by step index actually.
 
Ha-ha - I also never even thought about the rub getting into the scoring either - learned two things on this post.

That it does bear! Everyone loved it that's for sure. I've got plenty of people up where I'm at wanting me to cook stuff for events and what not in the summer, one of the reasons I plan on building myself a BBQ trailer when I have downtime this summer.
