First butts on modified el cheapo brinkman ...pics and Q view

So, all in all my chimney mod worked better than I imagined.
A 14 hour smoke I got 7+ hours out of the first load of charcoal minion method...added more fuel twice...about 20 briquettes each time, half lit half unlit...
Never adjusted the air vents all day till I started pulling butts off...then I had to choke it down a bit to keep temps under 240°.
Everything is resting now...gonna nap for a few and pull it in a couple hours and throw it in the fridge.
I'll re-heat it in my big electric roaster tomorrow for the graduation party.

Oh nice.. you add sauce to it or let people add some?
 
No sauce, I serve it on the side. I add a 1/3 cup ACV/apple juice + 1 TBS brown sugar to my foil wrap that I stir back into the pork after it's pulled with any other drippings...if it seems dry AT ALL (almost never does) I'll add a bit more.
 
Thanks... Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control...I'm a lightweight and fell sound asleep last night and didn't wake till 9:00 am this morning...I didn't get pictures of the finished/pulled product, BUT, the color was amazing, pulled like a dream and tasted wonderful. Of three butts, I scraped enough scraps together for a sammie, maybe; had several requests for my rub and sauce recipes and scheduled another large party...all in all another successful smoke, and now I've got another small portable dialed in I can transport easily.
 
Lol...we had a great time and yes it's time to.put.mynfeet up and have an adult beverage.
Didn't realize how tired I was last night...you wouldn't think just sitting in the yard all day would do that...but it was a 16 hour day out in the 90° heat.
