Oregon
We have quite a few fires in Oregon right now along with high winds. One of the biggest is the Beachie fire east of Salem in the Santiam Canyon, with the winds pushing the smoke and fires due west. At least one maybe 2 small towns in the canyon are completely destroyed. Theres a lot of places being evacuated inland and on the coast too. I'm about 10 miles west of Salem. 1st pic was taken about noon, out the door. Its gotten worse today. I think we're at 500+ AQI, it was just below 200 when I took the pic yesterday. Still have 2-3 more days of this to go. Link is satellite view of fires and smoke.

Stay safe. We watched the eclipse from a property a few miles due east of Salem. Will have to check if they are safe.

Looked at a fire map. They are halfway between Salem and the "be prepared to evacuate" zone, so safe for now.

Looks pretty nasty. I think the whole west coast is on fire. Maybe we could all just hang the meats outside and let these fires and all this smoke do their thing... save us on fuel and work!

It is all bad.
Used to live in Auburn WA (30 miles SSE of Seattle suburb) and 10 miles south there is evacuations and the highways shut down from smoke.
Buddy that lives in rural Auburn had been without power after a tree took out a power line (started subsequent brush fire) yesterday.
People think Seattle is wet which is true for 6-8 months. They miss that it is dry as a desert in the summer.

Yeah, this is crazy! Evacuations are still going on but hopefully the wind will die down Thursday. Extreme fire conditions and up to 90 mile winds to fan it. I'm a ways away from the fires and its just an inconvenience for me (smoke) but a lot of people have lost everything and theres already reports of lives lost. Listening to the scanner there were a lot of reports of people trying to evacuate but had trees blown down across their drive ways. I'm afraid that the final toll is gonna be devastating.

Hopefully they can get better conditions and get them contained before more people are injured or killed or loose everything. Glad your a ways from it but of course we know a ways isn't far enough if the winds shift and the winds blow hard.

Man it seems like the whole western US is up in flames!
Just can’t imagine the anxiety you are experiencing!
Praying that all our SMF buds are OK, but also all the other residents can somehow survive this. I just can’t imagine loosing a lifetime of stuff to one of these fires. I guess you have to be Thankful that you & your family are alive & can rebuild. Such a sad situation!
