Greetings All,
I've been enjoying Jeff's newsletter for several years and finally decided to join the forums. I live in south Florida and have been a big fan of BBQ for a long time. Unfortunately it's not easy to find good BBQ down here, and being a C3-4 quad in a wheelchair didn't thing I could do much myself. So I lived vicariously through the Travel Channel and Food Network, gaining knowledge and ideas from various show...all the while getting my young son (a.k.a. my hands) hooked! :)
Once he was old enough to help, we got a Masterbuilt electric smoker and started experimenting...that's when I subscribed to the newsletter. We enjoyed the food from the Masterbuilt, but after going to the Big Apple BBQ Block Party and trying BBQ from 17th Street BBQ, Pappy's Smokehouse and Big Bob Gibson's, we realized we could do better than electric. But tending a fire was not an option. So when Jeff mentioned he got a Traeger, a new ember was lit in my firebox.
We've got our Traeger Lone Star about 6 months ago and just upgraded to the Digital Pro Controller in hopes of lessening the temperature swings. We finally feel ready to tackle a brisket and plan an overnight cook this weekend.
Looking forward to sharing our successes and failures, and learning from all of your experiences as well.
Michael
