I love my MES30 but was looking to try and change up a bit. Found this NB on Craigslist last spring and picked it up. Don't have a picture of start, I took it apart as I was taking it out of the pickup.
Already have the side box off, the couple I bought it from started to sand and paint but did not get it all done.
Here is the firebox sanded with a new coat of paint.
Main unit cleaned up and painted
Couple pics of unit put back together.
One of the mod's, made a new box for the burner with expanded metal.
Found a piece of metal and cut out for the tuning plate, can't find picture of it cut down.
Loaded up ready for test fire and burnout
Got all the probes lined ready to test the side by side temps
Not too bad for the first run, temps pretty close across the grates, not great but a good start.
New there was weather in the area, was watching radar. Here it comes.
Had to take all the temp probes and thermo's in quick, this was within minutes of the picture above.
Usually only have time to smoke on Sunday's. This year after I got the smoker ready I was either racing or the forecast was for rain so never used it all summer, I actually tried a rack of ribs one day but the weather did not cooperate and ended up having to stick them in the MES after a couple of hours. the MES is in a screened in porch.
Thanks for looking.
PS I am way late on posting this and used it today for a Rack of Ribs, will post that smoker later.
