St.Louis ribs $2.99/lb,bone in strip steak $7.99/lb,top round $4.99/lb and boneless/skinless Purdue breasts $2.49/lb. All in the same store. And yes I bought meat today.

A strip going in the smoker in about 15 minutes and a rack of ribs tomorrow or Saturday and then really not sure for Jane's 62nd on Sunday (rain possibly).

Edit: guess it would've helped to name the store. Market Basket.

I stumbled across this store sale at my local Safeway yesterday. For grass-fed Angus, $4.99 lb is crazy.

Did a rack of the St. Louis ribs yesterday. Dusted with MaxMix MadDog. 275𝇈F in the MES with pecan shell dust for smoke.Finished on the grill to set the sauce.Weather won't be cooperative today so Jane's bday dinner will be waterfront down the road.

Beef just isn't selling at its current prices and stores are facing a situation of .... "throw it away" or have a fire sale. People just aren't going to pay $10 a lb for Round Steak. Just be aware... if you buy this Fire Sale Beef, you better cook it immediately or freeze it immediately.

Crazy thing is.... Live steers are going for about $5.25 a lb. That equates into the average price of meat to be close to $10 a lb. If Hamburger is selling for $5 a lb, then they have to sell Ribeyes for $20 a lb to make a profit.

I haven't purchased grocery store beef in over three years. I buy and feed my own steer calf and pay for his processing. I know what's in the beef and I get it for a little cheaper than store prices. I just have to pay $3,500 up front.
