Favorite widely available bourbon or whiskey

Found Old Forester 1870 on sale so I gave it a try. I'm a fan of all the different varieties.

Even though we are not Catholic, the wife always wants "us" to give something up for lent.
The wife gave up sweets and told me to give up liquor (bourbon).
(I never get to choose what I give up!)

Game on...she always loses...until this time.
We are both still in the game

I have a helluva bourbon collection too - most of it is gifted.
I am am engineer in construction for my day-job. As such, I am often called out nights, weekends, holidays - as well as regular hours - to help out a contractor in a jam. Many times I get an outstanding bottle of bourbon for my troubles in addition to getting paid my exorbitant fee.

FWIW - We are in week ?4? of our challenge. We both have lost about 5 pounds. I feel better than I have in a long time and sleep like a teenager on a rainy Saturday. I will definitely cut back on my bourbon consumption after I will this freaking contest! The best the wife can hope for is a tie.

I gave up drinking 2yrs ago and still have a fair collection sitting in the cellar, most have a few drinks or even just a couple ounces. I have probably gifted away close to 50 bottles and sold a few of the better ones and it still looks like an impressive collection.
Our girls are needing new hunting clothes and boots, need to look at finding a different 20ga to fit them better, just bought the best clay thrower that Scheels has (hopefully buy once cry once, I did have a tight feeling in chest on it) so clays and ammo are probably be getting used faster this summer.
I think unopened that I can think of are Knob Creek 18yr (had 12 and 15 and drank on them), Calument 15yr and 16yr, Henry McKenna SB, Knob Creek SB and 1-2 Store Picks, Stranahans Store pick cask strength (had some of a buddies and it was real good), Woodford Store Pick

texomakid I actually have 4 bottles of Eagle Rare...it is a fine bourbon and defo hard to find! Love getting extra so I can trade for other hard to find bourbons.

I just picked up some Green River Barrel Strength bourbon and Wheated bourbon. That's something that I hadn't seen in this area before. I've heard they're good; decent price points, too.

I've been able to get some sold off and money goes into a fund for our two girls (10&13), most of it is aimed for hunting equipment needs for them. I have a few connections but probably need to work a little harder to find more

I've been drinking bourbon for years. I remember going to liquor stores in Kentucky and they would have the BAT just sitting on the shelves. No limit. At $80.00 msrp, we bought many bottles. I've tried many, many bourbons, thanks to friends that hoard, I mean collect, bottles. I'm cheap though so $50.00 is my limit. I love WT 101, Bulleit , regular and rye, those are my go-to's.

tl;dr: Back in December, the federal Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau formally recognized “American single malt” as a category, the first new designation since 1968. The rules are fairly simple:
- made from 100% malted barley that is mashed, distilled and matured in the U.S.
- aged in oak barrels that are a maximum of 700 liters (185 gallons)
- bottled at least 40% alcohol by volume
- distilled entirely at one distillery (not necessarily the label's own)

I drove to town specifically looking for weed killer and I laugh because as a young man I'd probably been looking for killer weed ... Anyway, I spotted a large chain liquor store and figured I'd see what they had on the self (since I usually pay lake prices at the local shacks) and man I scored. My wife just shakes her head. Yes, I did buy a gallon of weed killer from TC

That EHT was a nice score price wise. Man, we never see much BT either so I got the 2 limit.
Life is good :)

40 days dry so far.
Lots of pluses…very few minuses.
Thinking another 4-6 weeks is in order.
End of May maybe?
When I do drink again…will probably stay is recommended guidelines.
No more than 2 drinks per day or 4 total in a week and all bourbon will be luxuriously good…no swill.

Wish I could go out for some weed killer and come back with some Taylor Traveler and BT. I would take just one of those. Local has had Bookers for first time in forever here. Had to buy a cpl bottles for the stash.

Smooth, slightly sweet rye/grain flavor. Most ryes are on the more peppery side, I dont care for those ar all.

I keep a bottle in one of the cabinets in the kitchen, aka my kitchen bourbon for when Im making dinner and dont want to go to the basement for something else
