My wife and I are big fans of BBQ sauce, she eats it on about everything.  Just wondering what everyone's favorite sauces are!  We have a local guy that makes an amazing sauce (Ol' West BBQ Sauce) that is real sweet and just about substitutes ketchup in the area we live![IMG]

Couple of months ago I did Butts and Brisket for my wife's office.  Ever since then people are bugging her either for meat or sauce.  Her boss is constantly giving her money wanting me supply him with pulled pork.  Yesterday one of the salesmen asked for 20 bucks worth of sauce!  He says he likes it because it isn't sickeningly sweet and has a lot of depth to it.

I never make any money doing this for people but it makes me happy that they appreciate my cooking.

So my favorite sauce is the stuff I make from scratch.

  8. Maull's!!!  I grew up on this stuff.  I swear that it ran through my veins during the hot St. Louis summers.

I make my own - can't beat home made!

    Spicy/Sweet - Tomato/Vinegar based.

If's fun to make, and you can tweak it to just how you like it!

    Redheelerdog's® Original Barbecue Sauce

    2 Cups water

    1 Cup ketchup

    1 Cup Worcestershire sauce

    3/4 Cup light corn syrup

    3/4 Cup tomato paste

    3/4 Cup vinegar

    3 Tablespoons molasses

    3 Tablespoons brown sugar

    1-Teaspoon liquid smoke

    1/2 Teaspoon salt

    1/4 Teaspoon onion powder

    1/2 Teaspoon black pepper

    1/8 Teaspoon paprika

    1/8 Teaspoon garlic powder

A little fresh fine minced garlic and onion

Add some Cayenne if you want some heat!

    1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over high heat

     and whisk until smooth.

    2. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45

to 60 minutes or until mixture is thick.

    3. Cool, then store in a covered container in the refrigerator

overnight so that flavors can develop.

    4. Store quart canning jars in the refigerator.

Makes enough for a while… until you need to make MORE because it is so damn good!

Gates BBQ Sauce - Extra Hot and Sweet and Mild versions - you can only buy it online (unless you live in KC).  Mrs. likes just the sauce but everyone else, I put a mild rub on and sauce toward end.

I do not use much of it at all but when I do it is usually JD.

    For me?  Usually none.

For my other half?  Something that started with Sweet Baby Ray's or K.C. Masterpiece.  Until I got done with it.

Update:  This year she is settling on Sweet Baby Ray's as the base sauce.  Additions depend on her daily mood?  [IMG]

    Good luck and good smoking.

Generally none, but we love Big Moes on the pulled pork. We like the vinegar based stuff and not big fans of the sweet.
