The Popeye's chicken sandwich here is STILL only $5. Best deal around if you dont buy anything else. The sides and drinks are the hose job. We get the spicy chicken sandwich and it's like a full breast, not some chopped and pressed patty. Wife will bring home a couple when she goes grocery shopping (she's retired and I work from home). I can eat just the sandwich at 1PM and struggle to be hungry for dinner by 6:30. Really sticks to my ribs. We hardly ever eat fast food except that...and once in a while I have to have an Arby's roast beef...half pound...thats about $10 after taxes but again, a lot of protein and sticks to the ribs. I stay away from the sides and drinks, thats where they all take the biggest bite from your wallet when you consider the nutritional value.
Same in restaurants. Some charge as much as 3.50 for a beverage that costs them 17 cents out of the dispenser, but some people simply cant...not...have a soda...and fries, etc.. I think it's a mental thing, those things MUST go together in people's minds. And some people simply hate water for some reason. Water is still free in many places.
