Anyone ever see these? I found a rack labeled Extra thick baby backs. I am no rib expert but I haven’t seen these before. I don’t usually buy baby backs but these had at least 1.5 inch slab of meat on top of the bones. I would like to be able to find some more. They were killer

Cooking up some extra meaty right now..just finishing 321..ribs from Safeway.

Got a pic of them, they probably are leaving more loin meat on them to get more weight because they get more money for ribs.

Been seeing those at Giant under the Hatfield brand in cryopack. Really like them quite a bit. $4 something a pound. I just do 2-3 hours indirect on my grill, basting the last 90 minutes or so with the sauce of the day.

Around here they are the Smithfield brand. The extra meat is loin, and if cooked to ~200* IT, they are dry. Not really worth it to me. Who in their right mind cooks loin meat to *200*?

Yea I agree with the above, the extra meaty ribs are really hard to cook, cause they have a big chunk of the loin on top. So if your cooking a loin you would pull it out if the smoker at 138-140 & with a rest it would hit 145. That would be just right for a loin, but the ribs Need to go to 195-205 depending on how tender you like them. That will dry out the loin part & you won’t have the juicy ribs you are looking for. That is why I have been buying STL’s lately.
Not as much meat but juicy & tender.
