I planted this Elephant Garlic 2 years ago. Needed a couple more months but while the ground was wet I thought I would go ahead and harvest it. Would be impossible in this black clay when it dried. Man this was a chore. That black clay is about impossible to get a shovel in even while its wet. I almost gave up. I ruined a few trying to get them up. It was against my fence on a hill which made it even harder. Also had a heck of a time getting clay off my shovels. It is dried now and cut bulbs off and put into paper bag and storing in spare bedroom. Not real sure this is the way to do it or not? My hydro garden slowly coming along. Thai basil about 2" now and purple abut 1" but at least they still alive.

Nice garlic! We grow an elephant variety that hS been passed down in the family for over 50 years. I entered it 10 years ago in to an agg show, won 1st place and best in class. Everyone there wanted some stock from me!

Thanks. I had some I really liked planted around house. I got them growing wild at around property where we did schutzhund training with GSD's. It would come back every year than when I had foundation done they where killed off. New owners with a tree farm out there now. I thought about asking them if I could look around.
