Easy Puerto Rican Beans-N-Rice

Our Army daughter has been married to a very good PR man.

I asked how does Victor get his RBNR so good?

She said cuz you dont use the right rice and beans.

Ok show me.

I said im out of pulled pork. You dont need pulled pork.

She told me what to buy.

Ok she said just remember water and rice same amount. 1 cup rice to 1 cup water. Do however much for how many is going to eat.
4 of us.

Im doing 4 cups water to 4 cups rice.

Put some olive oil in your pan. Add 2 spoons of sofrito and 1 pack sazon. and stir this around. Low heat Add any salt if you like.

I just used a regular tablespoon.

Dice up the vienna sausages. Dont add the liquid, set side.

Drain your can of beans and set aside.


When your oil, sofrito and sazon have come together then add your water. Bring to boil.

Now add your rice and diced sausages. And drained beans (i forgot that pic)
Set heat to low and cover

You need to fold from the bottom up every 5-10 mins.

The rice will be done when its tender. If you need any water add a little of hot water and re cover.


Success.
Taste and add any salt you like.

That looks really good, I will try that. I've been looking for a different side to try. I'll have to sneak the Vienna sausage in, wife and kids won't eat them but I love them. Thanks for the instructional recipe.
 
I learned to make a version of that rice many years ago. I was doing some volunteer work for the Puerto Rican Church in Lancaster. When the week was over, the Church Ladies put out a spread like Ive not seen since. The Rice and Gandules, Pigeon Peas, was fantastic. The Recipe they gave was similar to your Daughters, but used a pack of Goya Jamon, Ham Flavored Concentrate, instead of the Sausages. I will have to try it withe the Vienna Sausages. Chicken looks great as well...JJ
 
Rick looks good my old neighbors were PR they showed me a different way. Thanks for sharing I will have to give this a try saving it.
