Finally fired up my new dyna-glo, after using red rtv sealant on gaps in fire box whare it meets cc. I finally fired it up today, with a full load of charcoal and much anticipation. I threw in a couple of cutoffs from some apple wood. The fire maintained a temp of tween 250 deg.and 225 deg. for 4 hrs and just now dropping to 200 deg. I am very happy with that but now see I will have to stock up on a truckload of charcoal. still working on pics, having problems with windows 10.I will have pics soon.I had better.

All things in good time.
There's a lot of different types of charcoal. You'll find one you like.

The DIL's Dad only uses lump charcoal for his BBQ. He makes some of the most deelicous chicken and flank stake on the most basic BBQ you can imagine.

Just a matter of settling in and finding what works good for you.
You're getting there. ;):)

No nonsense Charcoal.

Happy Grilling and getting to know and enjoy your new Smoker! :D

Curious to know how you decided on that model as opposed to the cabinet or wide cabinet model. Was it the look or Fire box? The thickness is same?
added capacity,5 racks , big water pan and hooks to hang ribs meat and sausage, glad I bought that model not having problems holding steady temps. like other box smokers have had but some of those problems can be eliminated with some mods to fb and sealing gaps

Thanks
Tom

I have same dyna-glo, I only needed to use red sealant where firebox went into cooking chamber, had 1/8" gap around where it went into cc. Did not need Nomex tape on door of the cc
