Does anyone make a paper mockup before building?

Just wondering, does anyone tweak their build designs by making small card-stock paper mockups first? Just to see how the intended parts would fit together, or else show the builder exactly what you want.

Couldn't hurt - always nice to have a good visual if you are having a hard time picturing what it will look like in your head.

a cardboard cut out, of the RF plate, would be good to check dimensions for a good air flow...

When I make full size patterns and mock ups for the boat building I do I use door skin. It's cheap and isn't as easy to destroy as cardboard or paper. It's also easy to glue multiple pieces together with hot glue.

I've made full size patterns out of cardboard, beer cartons and so on. Some masking tape and hot glue helps.
