SCV - So Cal
I had never heard of this until I saw it on you YouTube video last week. It looked too good not to try it for myself.

We have a group over tonight so I spent a whole 5 minutes and made up a batch. Everyone kept telling me how good it was and asking for the recipe.

1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1 tp vanilla extract

Microwave in a bowl in 30 second increments and mix until melted fully keep mixing.

In a large bowl add 9 cups of Chex Rice cereal. then add in the mixture and stir until well incorporated.

in a extra large ziplock add 1 cup of powdered sugar and half the mix. Shake it back and forth until everything is coated well.

repeat with the second half.

It's a Midwest staple. Been eating it since I was young. Some also do a Carmel drizzle too. I've thought about smoking the chex mix then coating it.

I figured it was something like that. I was watching the Brits from Jolly that flew to Detroit to attend their first Tailgate party and NFL game in the USA. Part way thru they tried the puppy chow and raved about it enough that it peaked my interest.

I can say that my wife and her friends ate most of it and many took some home with them. I have been picking and eating bites of it every time I have walked by it tonight and love it.

It's a staple around here around the holidays.
Yep. Definitely would be at a midwest tailgate. My wife is known for her version. There's a few spins on it with different things added. Hers is called "reindeer kibble". I want to say ours is less chex but pretzel squares are added. We're a salt added to sweets family here.

Yup, you can buy it at any grocery store or Casey's gas station. Another chocolate cereal coated creation is "reindeer poop"
Now that's a real appetizing name.

Me as well, I have to say after my blood work yesterday and my A1C numbers, I will not be trying this or pursuing sour dough making for a while.
I've been extremely lucky with my numbers, and I don't really want to push that luck.

I saw lots of options when I was checking out recipes. I thought I would start with the basics and go from there.

Puppy Chow

12 oz. package chocolate chips
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup of butter
1 box Rice Chex
2-3 cups powdered sugar

Melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter together. Place ½ box Rice Chex into jelly roll pan. Stir in half of the chocolate/peanut butter mixture. Place coated Rice Chex into large plastic bag with powdered sugar. Shake and remove from bag. Repeat with the other half of Rice Chex.

I just have to bump this up.

I made a second large batch this week and send 1/2 of it with my wife to share at her work.

They gobbled it down as expected.

I have myself made a small container that keep with me while on the computer. I refill each day with more than I should have for myself but somehow it ends up empty by the following morning.

This is so addicting and good it has become my new favorite snack.
