I have to make another dog. Once it's done I will send both to the powder coat shop for a blast. The dog will get powder coated a cinnamon brown. The crab I will primer and paint.

Smoke away!!!

Pretty Creative! But I don't care how long you smoke that...It ain't gettin' tender!

:77:  pretty cool dirtsailor vise grips most be cheap in your area. Less see the finished item.

Harbor freight is the best place to find cheap tools for welding projects. These were on sale for $2 a piece. All in I have $13 in materials for the crab.

case,

looks cool. Have you ever thought about powder coating at home? it is a pretty ieexpensive process. we have done it for years at the Medford House. the main unit is about $125.00 plus your powder (keeps well) and just an old oven from a kitchen tear out will get you started.

I haven't. I'm sure my wife will be looking for you after she sees an oven in the garage!

what i ended up with is a Bun warmer from a Subway i was redoing. they were having to put updated equiptment in. (Lucky, right place right time) thats when the old oven went away. and I agree with you too hard to explain why you have one in your shop especially when the burners on top do not work

it was just a thought for you if you do alot of one off coatings. i went thru lots of clear FYI.

Looking forward to the finished product pictures,

Tom

Eastwood has several kits, one even comes with a toaster oven. Probably the only problem I'd have is powering a large oven in my garage. Our panel is full so I can't add any 220 in the shop.

Eastwood is where I got mine. When I tripped over the subway boxes my buddy got one. He converted his to propane, he used a heating unit from what you might put on the drift boat(no real flame) kept contaminates out and worked mine was electric did not wrk as easy as his (for temp control)

:popcorn   Got this thing painted yet?

Went a totally different route. Soaked in vinegar overnight. Sprayed on a coat of Hydrogen peroxide and salt. Watched the bubbles and foam do the magic.
Purposely rusted. Washed in water. Dried really good. Coated with Penetrol. Allowed to dry. Sprayed several coats of polyurethane.

Man that's all most what they look like when we steam them more orange though. Thanks for the reply I was thinking of making a couple and painting them but I like your idea better. I have some real good Amish friends I drive them around some well be going to Fla. in March with them. Anyway I asked him about some horse shoes and he said I might be able to get you some for nothing and I said you can't take them off the horse. He reply why not I don't use him much any more. Thanks again.
