Covering reverse flow plate

I read that many cover there reverse flow plate with foil for way clean up, i put a cookie sheet pan that cover my plate which is on 30 inches it collects most of the drippings all I have to do take it out hose it off, but wondering if covering the plate changes sone of the benefits of having the reverse flow plate? You can see the pan im using in the pic.

I don't use anything and just steam the smoker to clean it

Same here ... Every once in a while I'll use a putty knife and clean it
