Been looking at these for awhile now . I have a Samsung fridge with the total failure ice maker design .
mike243 mike243 helped me with updating / repair and what I needed to do which helped . New mainboard , drain heaters , sealer for the ice room , and some other stuff . Got a good 2 years out of it after that . Froze up again , and I've been doing ice trays for awhile now .

I saw a comment from uncle eddie uncle eddie about a countertop ice maker . So I started looking at them . Wasn't sure about it , but saw one he recommended in the Prime sale yesterday . I bought the basic one . On / off . Self clean cycle . Pleased with the size too . $65.00 .

Ran it today ,,, this thing is an ice making beast . Wasn't sure what to expect , but works way better than I thought it would .
Only been a few hours , but if it holds up I'll be very happy .
Heck , I filled it this morning . Hit start . Got a cup of coffee , and sat down to get on here ,,, and I heard the ice dump . 5 minutes . Crazy .

So I dumped it in the freezer when the basket got full and let it run for about 6 hours .
Filled the water 3 times I think . Can take it out on the patio , or in the camper for guys that have one .
Pretty nice .

Just got one myself (Frigidaire) as my fridge makes a hell of a racket when dispensing ice. they do make some fan and pump noise but scooping ice in the middle of the night doesn't wake up the family like the fridge does. I got mine as an impulse buy at Costco... I should not be allowed in there. :emoji_laughing:

Actually the fridge is a GE, the noise doesn't bother me but it seems to rattle the families cages when I use it. An added benefit is the little pellet ice is great for use while grinding.

Dang it.... now I am going to check the amp draw to see if it will run on the trailer inverter for when we are in the sticks....

This one is 1.8 at the highest . 1.5 making the ice . 1.8 when it dumps the ice .

We run one in the camper all the time. My fridge is a full size but it's on a slide out. That makes winterization a pain. Not sure of our brand. We used one up, took about 4 years. Things rusted inside.
We use it at home during parties our in-door refer ice maker is okay for the two of us bit not a big crowd. We love it and only use distilled or filtered water. Keep an eye on the water if you run it for extended time it will get a little scummy.

We have the Frigidaire one. Works great. Only complaint is the ice it makes is "moist"ice. You put it in the freezer and you'll wind up with a block of ice.
