I've had both, in Calif when Costco was Price Club, so a long time shopper. Agree with a previous poster their politics and worker treatment is enough for me NOT to go to Sams even if there was one here. I have Costco within a mile and find their meat quality outstanding as well as their veggie/fruit selection. The one by me is offering many Organic fruits & veg now, not that it is a major concern of mine by I'm sure many find it superior. I can zero in on what I want and not spend major bucks like some with loaded carts. Costcos return policy is outstanding and I buy ALL my electronics there when in the market....at least 3-4 PC's in the past, cameras, printers, big screens etc. I am sold on Costco and often say if 'Costco doesn't have it I don't need it'. They pay their workers a great wage and everybody seems happy. I can get a big 4 pound rotisserie chicken and get 3-4 meals out of it for both of us for $4.99...outstanding deal. I love Costco, no cheap crap sold.......Willie

Was at Costco took some pictures of different meat prices .They usally have more pork didn't see any butts missed getting pictures of baby backs I usally get 3 racks at about 31. Was talking with a freind about joining a Restauant Depot Will get some pictures there

Can beat ALL those prices on choice beef at local IGA store, Correction , 2 weeks ago i could. have not looked in 2 weeks

Can beat most of those prices here 2 to 3 $ a pound or better at the local Kroger!! $3.02 LB Brisket and $5.99 pound Ribeye in the last week alone. All American born / raised though...We dont get meat from Mexico. Boston Butts are 2.29$ a pound and spare ribs 2.99$ a pound at Sams. Pork Loins are 1.99$ a pound here on sale at Meijer. Top Sirloins are 3.99$ a pound at Kroger as well.

My wife and I dropped our Sam's membership years ago due to cleanliness issues and lousy service.  Been Price Club/Costco members for decades.  Friendly people, well lit, clean public areas.  Even though they have choice and prime grade meat we haven't been happy with what we've purchased there; metallic taste and just not tender. I try the meat every two years or so to see if anything has changed.

My plan was to smoke two whole chickens this weekend in addition to some beef because we have family visiting Saturday and Sunday. We were at Costco Wednesday night and I thought I'd give their meat another chance.  Figured I'd pick up a brisket.  The biggest brisket they had was 4.5 lbs!  It was the proper length but only about as wide as my hand!  It was obvious they had cut all their briskets in half.  I passed.  Probably could have asked for a whole brisket but they were closing up shop through the windows so I didn't bother.

Looked at the tri tips; $6.99/lb choice, $9.99/lb prime.  Eh.

I like to find two chickens close to the same size so they finish at the same time.  The chickens at Costco were two packed so no telling what size each you're getting.  They were $1.19 / lb.  Ended up passing on all on all the meat.

Went to my preferred grocer the next day, picked up two identical weight 6 lb whole chickens for 99 cents/lb and two 3.5 lb choice grade tri tips for $5.49 / lb. The tri tips are smoking along at 250F as I type.  The chickens are brining to be smoked tomorrow.

Still want to do a brisket though.

I've always been extremely happy with the meat selection at Sam's Club.  We just joined Costco and let our Sam's membership expire (don't do enough bulk shopping to justify two memberships).  Haven't tried any meat from Costco yet.  After reading this, I'm second guessing our decision.

Going to check out Restauant Depot tomorrow and going to a place called Penn Dutch meats they are suppose to kill and butchering on premices  think they will be the best. Happen to be in Costco last night and you was wondering how they compared to sams Bob. So there you go  how do they compare. We have Sams here also but never been to one so I don't know.
