Congrats Bear! Thanks for your wealth of knowledge and willingness to share. When I first got here you gave me some great words of encouragement and a couple thumbs up on my bear views. Those are the things that keep a newbie smoking along and eating some tasty mistakes. Thank you my friend.

David

Congrats Bear!!! It was your posts that made me join after lurking for many years.

Your posts have helped many here. Always informative and inspiring!

Thanks Bear!

I have a million dollar question. Why is Mr. Bearcarver not a member of the OTBS? Why does the ranking stop at master of the pit?

Could we please get a moderator to fix this problem? Do I need to PM tulsajeff?

I think we need a new ranking system! Bear has set the bar a lot higher than 1000 post. Bear has set the bar above 10,000 post. Then he has made so many of us much better meat burners . Then he will post a Bearview to teach each and everyone here how it is done. I have told a bunch of new smokers to pick someone that post a lot of their smokes to read every thread that that person has started. Maybe I am a stalker. I have read every thread Mr. Bear has started.

Thank you John for making SMF what it is today.

Happy smoken my friend.

David

If this were a ballpark, he'd have his own statue.

There are about three members that I immediately look to for guidance, and read anything they post. Bear's wisdom and willingness to share it mean more than he'll ever realize.

Thank You David!!

That's a lot of really nice things you said.

I was a member of OTBS (#217), but it was suspended 3 years ago. Been doing my best since I came back from my Open Heart Surgery 2 years ago.

Thanks again,

Bear

Number 2 means you try harder? as the old commercial used to say. Me thinks you're Numero Uno in a lot of ways but the best was beating back that medical scare. Like many others have said, an inspiration to many FNG's, myself included, with a wealth of info ready & willing to share. Continued good living, my friend......Willie
Thanks Wille!!

I would gladly give #2 back to the guy I just passed, if he would only come back to us. "SmokinAl" was one of my All-Time Favorite member of SMF.

In fact if it would guarantee SmokinAl would come back, I would gladly go back to ZERO & start my count all over again. Al was a Great member.

He took a break for a family thing & never returned. I hope he's well.

Bear
I think Bear shOuld invite us all up to that beautiful place he has for a close up look at how he does his magic! What you you guys think?!
Thanks Brooksy!! I Think.

That would be great, but I'm no longer much good for cooking for more than 2 or 4 people. I don't smoke one quarter as much as I used to since that Dr nearly killed me 2 years ago. The slightest thing exhausts me.

However, that said, you guys would always be welcome at the Bear cave----I'm just not as much fun as I used to be.

I just celebrated 1 year in August after cabg at age 43. I was a member here years ago and since recently returning Bear has been very welcoming and informative. Not to mention now I don't feel so guilty about my carnivorous nature after surgery! Keep up the good work and God Bless sir!

Congrats on that year!!!

Mine is a special case. I never had a cholesterol problem, but I was born with a bicuspid valve, and it was shrinking. I was scheduled for a Aortic valve replacement, so the week before I was an out patient getting a catheterization to see if I needed any bypasses, since they were going to have my chest open. My coronaries were all clear (after eating like a hog all my life), but while the Idiot "Doctor" was in there he ripped a hole in my Aorta. That's where all Hell broke loose!! 9 hours of emergency surgery, to save my life, 12 days in cardiac Intensive Care, and 28 days in Hospital.

I was very lucky. Had high cholesterol, smoked, drank and lived hard. Had a mild imperfection in an artery that closed up. Got a stent last April in august my body had rejected it and had bypass surgery. Been great since. Wasn't near as bad as you.4 days pre-op trying to get blood thinners out of my system,3 days sicu because of bleeding,3 days in hospital. Out on sat. afternoon and on my knees in church on Sunday morning. Been thanking the big man everyday since.

Grats John! Always nice to know there is somebody who spends more time on the computer than I do! Many thanks for many great posts, pictures, and laughs over the years!
Thanks Johnny!!

As I said earlier, I'd gladly drop back to #3, below SmokinAl, if it would bring him back to SMF. I miss that Ole Florida Boy!!!

I'm sure all of us Old Time SMFers miss him. He was Great !!

I totally agree Bear, Al was a great guy with some great smokes. I still use his brisket method of trimming the brisket lean and then placing all the fat trimmings on the upper rack so they render and baste the brisket bellow them.

I cant agree, Brooksy. Bear has done nothing to deserve that severe a punishment.

Disco
LOL---Thanks Disco!!

Nice Job John! That is an amazing number and like the others, I thank you for being one of the first members, along with Oldschool and Scarbelly Gary to reach out and welcome and befriend me three years ago...JJ
Thanks Jimmy!!

Gary was an Awesome guy & a Great friend. Stan still is!

RIP Gary.

Bear

Hey John, I just saw on the news they are still looking for that guy, No SWAT teams at your house I hope

Gary

Congrats John. You certainly shortened..make that flattened the mes learning curve for me. I've yet to have a misfire following your step by steps. While I'm at it I'd like to thank you for the extended camping trip that you took for all of us back in 69'.
