Coconut shavings as a rub?

Does anyone have any experience with coconut shavings as a rub? I can't seem to find anything on the internet, nor do I know how the shavings would react to being smoked. It is for a boneless beef short rib.

It could be good. If I was to try that, I would do djion mustard, brown sugar and the coconut as like a paste
