Some time back the "wire brush" dangers were brought to my attention...   Realizing there was a lot of truth to the suspected and proven dangers, I changed my technique and I am passing on what I have done to remedy the " wire stuck in the throat "  possibility....   I did find broken wires on the grill when I did an inspection...   Sure am glad my granddaughters didn't get one of those stuck in their throat or gut....    Really bad deal.....  or me for that matter.....

I run a piece of wood over the individual rods to clean off heavy stuff......    Over time, it developed a form fitting groove....

Then I found some small "grill stones" at W-M...   I run it over the grill to clean the leftover stuff...   I keep it in the same "plane" so it cleans the sides of the rods....

Thanks Dave!

I quit using the wire brush a while ago when I saw the dangers.  Lots of folks are unaware, and I shake my head when I see the brushes in the bbq accessory isle.

Light scrub with scotchbrite on warm/hot grill...wire brush on grills needs to be outlaw'd. I also found stray wire strands on my stainless steel grate after reading that article. How easy would it be to get that into the food....scary .. My cast iron grates I've always used scotchbrite.
