Christmas present - Electric ECB

So, I finally talked the better half into getting me a smoker. She bought the Electric ECB for me and I'm excited to start smoking with it. I know I need to add a thermometer for it, but I've got a good wired probe thermometer that I'll use the first time I use it.

All I've done so far is season it, but I'm not sure it got hot enough. After 3 hours, it was still not too hot for me to touch/handle the lid. I know I need to do that again.

i'm going to setup a windbreak when I season it (again) and I'm going out tomorrow to get a welding blanket for it. I'm hoping to do either a brisket or some ribs first! I'm going to post my questions on another forum, but I wanted to introduce myself first.

First off welcome to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are abunch of good folks here that would just love to help you out with just about anything to do with smoking. We really like to have newbies here because they can bring in a new propective to how things are done. There's nothing like a new set of eyes to give and new way to make things that little differant to make things alittle better. So I hope you know about the Qview here.

It's also free and it will give you the basics of smoking. So after all of that you just need to go grab something to smoke and if you have any question just post them here and we will answer it quickly so you don't have any mishaps with your smoke.

When you uploading to Photobucket I always use the Large IMG setting, 640 x 480 it is a nice size...
