It was time to slop up the new Weber with something beside a steak or burger. I chopped a six pound bird in half with a meat cleaver and hammer and loaded up the chimney. When the coals were ready I loaded them all to the backside of the Weber, tossed on the bird skin side up. Doing chicken this way for about forty years now I let that go for a half hour, then flip it skin side down for a half hour, then it's back to skin side up and a little mop with SBR sauce.

I've got a half hour to go, chopped up some cabbage with a little onion and carrots, slaw

After another baste midway thru it's tile to pull the bird

I like the thighs, legs, and wings for dinner, cole slaw and macaroni salad.

The bird always seems to stay nice and juicy getting cooked this way, nice BBQ flavor and is cooked thru. The breasts, chicken enchiladas. Thanks for looking. RAY

Ray that looks great with so many chicken post lately I may have to try some. Likes

Thanks Richie! There's not much easier than doing a bird this way, just two flips and some mopping at the end. RAY

That bird is just gorgeous!! I think I need to thaw out a couple whole birds for the weekend now!

Looks good Ray . Sometimes I just leave it skin side up , and don't flip .
Nice work .

Thanks Chop, I do it that way also from time to time. Sometimes I'll toss some soaked wood chips on the coals right at the beginning for a little smoke flavor, nice to change things up a bit now and then. RAY

That’s good eatin right there. Nothin better than a sticky sauce stache’ from tearing into some kettle chicken. Napkins are useless and a waste of sauce.

Good looking grub! Half chicken is the one thing i really like with a nice sticky bbq glaze! Great job!

That is one good looking chicken. I haven't down whole or halved chicken in a while. Mostly parts lately. Good job using that kettle.

Point for sure
Chris
