Got a new thermometer. where would be the best position to install it on the lid. One that came with is garbage. It is a 3" model. Dont want to make a wrong cut in the lid. Thanks

Hey there,

I actually just made a few mods to my Char-Griller a few weeks ago. I added two 3" thermometers that can be calibrated. I put one on each side of the lid. Each was 4" in from each end and 3" up from the lip. I also added tuning plates and dampers. With one thermometer on each end I can make adjustments and try to get the temp on both sides as even as possible during cooking. So far they are working out great. As a matter of fact, I have a few racks of ribs out smoking as I type this.

I hope this helps!
