Great find, can't say I've ever had them but id sure like to try em. Im guessing I won't find them anywhere close to me. Meal looks fantastic too 👍
Thanks JLinza! They grow in every state except Hawaii.
:emoji_clap: What else is to say but well done and not well done steak but properly done steak to....LOL
Thank you Civil. Got another steak marinating now....round two tonight.

I always picked the ones with a copper top and a purple ring around the stem... And they grew in cow manure... Oh wait... That was in the 80's... No wonder I can't remember anything ...
LOL!!!!

Mighty fine looking meal Inda! Love me some mushrooms for sure!

Ryan
Thanks Ryan! These are the best mushroom on the planet IMO (except for truffles)

Gourmet Chow.... Hell Yeah!
Thanks Chili!

Lots of small ones here during a wet fall!! Looks awesome!!

Went back for more today. End of the first flush, but found some new buttons starting on a bare dirt path. I'm certain same thing is happening in the woods on either side, but can't see them in the leaf litter and grass. With a tropical low projected in the gulf late this week, should give them the moisture they need to flush again. Fingers crossed. I managed to find a little over a pound though. I actually felt like I was mushroom hunting instead of walking on a carpet of gold! LOL!!

Also, some mushroom I.D.; there is a relatively new subspecies (named in 2011) identified that grows in the deep southeast....Cantharellus Lewisii. Dark orangish to Brown on top, lighter yellowish underneath. Medium to medium small in size. Two on the left are C. Lewisii mushrooms as compared to the smooth Chanterelle on the far right:

Smooth Chanterelle is more apricot in color uniform top and bottom....both have that sweet apricot scent though...

I made a Chanterelle mushroom Alfredo. I had 1 grilled venison/beef hamburger left over so I warmed that up, fried an egg, and this is the combo I came up with....

Arugala, salt, pepper and Parmesan Cheese on top. It was outstanding! I will be making Chanterelle mushroom Alfredo again!!

4" of rain this afternoon, and we got a week of wet weather ahead of us. Same Tropical low is making a 3rd pass back out into the gulf hugging the coast so it will be a gully washer. I expect more chanterelles to flush...will be a really good soaking for sure.
