Little Chanterelle mushroom I.D.......

False chanterelle on bottom; smooth Chanterelle on top ...notice the white underside on the false chanterelle and the gills have a true terminal end point on the stem. Chanterelles are not white underside.

Very informative description there. Not sure if we have the false chants here but we do have Jack oLantern - also toxic.

Made the last trip to the farm yesterday that was specifically for chanterelle hunting.
Found the biggest one I have ever seen! It was a perfect flower too.

yes very important to pay attention!

i found many different shrooms growing in same patch the other day. and guess what was in one of the sacks whaen i got home. a false chanterelle! the picking was by the handfuls literally. and from the top you dont see a difference!!!!! when i dumped the sacks out i seen its white gills rite off. i was really looking for sticks n leaves and the pale yellow chants and coral i also put in that sack. that shows how easy it could be to pick a sack and share with friends unknowingly!!!! i had 4 sacks, so i gave one away total to friends and family. luckily i usually dump them out to clean trash that gets in there. and to sort the gems out for the picker. lol if that one shroom got under my radar someone could have had an upset stomach or worse.

i dehydrated a load for the first time. put them in jars on kitchen shelf for looks and tree rat stew here soon!

its cooled off last two nights so im hoping the chickens will do a showing here too.

sautéed some for breakfast and batter fried some for lunch. i never battered them before but i will again! i used a veggie batter and pan fried them. i was worried about the water content. so i split and laid them out on a towel for a coupe hours. they splattered some but the batter stayed on them. the bigger chunks were the best tasting.

i gotta stop using that phone for pics. lol sry for the blur.
