Camp Chef DO lid cracked

Wanted to strip all of our cast iron down to bare metal. Don't have a self cleaning oven. Using a weed burner. Have cleaned 5 other pieces so far. Started working on the lid and heard it crack....

That can happen if there's any manufacturing defects. Is the crack visible? I wouldn't be too concerned since it's the lid. Season it and start using.

Crack is indeed visible. Didn't get all the old stuff cooked off. Almost afraid to heat it up again to finish removing the old stuff. Will give it a,shot when I get done getting frustrated by the FB door hinges on the RF....

That's what I was thinking.... but I was moving the weed burner around. Perhaps it was due to the lip retaining the flame?

Same thing can happen when using the clean cycle on the oven too. All it takes is a small flaw to crack.

As mentioned I wouldn't worry too much about it since it's the lid. I have a DO that is cracked and still use it, the crack doesn't go all the way through.

I think this goes all the way through. Will check it when I go lock up the garage later. Have a neighbor that claims he knows how to weld CI. If it is cracked all the way I may let Jim give it a go....
Hell of a day today. Cracked the lid, had a flare up when I was cleaning the bottom of the DO....got no hair left on my arms....and I goofed on the hinges on my smoker. Need to cut all 4 parts off and start over. And of course I only have 1 new cutting wheel for the angle grinder. Just bought a box of 50 off of FleaBay...won't see them to Monday.
