I've been hanging around the fringe on this site for a few months, finally decided I need to get involved, it's just too neat. While not a pro, I've been smoking meat when I have had time since back in the 70's. I retired early two years ago and have most of the honey-do things completed so I can concentrate on the things I really like. Smoking is one of them. I have an antique "ECB" I bought for $19.95 in 1975 at Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, MO (home) when they first started selling them. It has since moved with us to Minneapolis and Kansas City following my job with Frisco/BN/BNSF railroads. It gets uglier every time I fire it up, but just keeps on smokin'! I finally took the pressure washer to it last summer after the wife threatened to get rid of it, didn't help, still ugly, smokes fine though. I am going to buy an offset style smoker soon. The ECB stays.
I really enjoy the forums here. Great bunch of people willing to share or help any way they can.
I am certainly looking forward to the SMF gathering in June and getting to meet y'all.
Oh yeah - Jeff's smoked meatloaf is simply the best.

Welcome to SMF PeculiarMike. Can't wait to see more posts from you. Also looking forward to having you at the SMF Gathering. Please be watching for a PM from Ultramag concerning the trip.

Keep Smokin

As always, we love it when a lurker joins the SMF Family. Since you've been at this for a while, we hope you'll share what you know. BTW-we love pictures!!

Peculiarmike,

Good to see you join up in the SMF action.. lots of it these days and it will only get better from here.

Sure would like to see a pic of that antique ECB.. I have an old rusty one that I still use but it is only about 10 years old, I can't even imagine one from the 70's

Tried to attach a pic of the ECB but got a message that said it exceeded the limits, too big apparently. That is it in my avatar, pretty small & hard to make out.

What type of image file is it.. jpg, jpeg, bmp, png? It has different allowances for different types of files.

jpg is the best and I think it needs to be at or below 640 x 480 and 100k filesize.

Welcme Peculiarmike ,
This is a great place to come to for food porn , info , etc . I've got rail-roading in my blood also my dad worked for the Milwaukee Rail Road all of his life . ( ALL - ABOARD )
