I've been hanging around the fringe on this site for a few months, finally decided I need to get involved, it's just too neat. While not a pro, I've been smoking meat when I have had time since back in the 70's. I retired early two years ago and have most of the honey-do things completed so I can concentrate on the things I really like. Smoking is one of them. I have an antique "ECB" I bought for $19.95 in 1975 at Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, MO (home) when they first started selling them. It has since moved with us to Minneapolis and Kansas City following my job with Frisco/BN/BNSF railroads. It gets uglier every time I fire it up, but just keeps on smokin'! I finally took the pressure washer to it last summer after the wife threatened to get rid of it, didn't help, still ugly, smokes fine though. I am going to buy an offset style smoker soon. The ECB stays.
I really enjoy the forums here. Great bunch of people willing to share or help any way they can.
I am certainly looking forward to the SMF gathering in June and getting to meet y'all.
Oh yeah - Jeff's smoked meatloaf is simply the best.
