so i've been looking to find these - i know they're known as plate beef ribs .. i was in Restaurant Depot this morning and found these ..would this be the same??

Good enough, those are Chuck Short Ribs, the next step down from the Plate Short Ribs.
All I can get is Chuck's and they're great.

Those will cook up beautifully.

Chile, can you confirm those are the smaller rib bones removed from the Cross Rib?

They should be just as good as plate short ribs would be my guess.
 
These are IMPS/NAMP 130 Chuck Short Ribs (shoulder), the only question is if they're whole racks at 10"-12" bone length or cut short.
Just as good, but not as long or thick as
IMPS/NAMP 123/123a Plate Short Ribs (belly)

Restaurant Depot does carry them. About 10 lb packages. I am smoking the Chuck Short ribs that you listed right now because I grabbed the wrong bag of ribs. They are right next to one another in the fridge....:mad:
