Note to all that use an adapter hose to the factory regulator.
The regulator can be at ANY angle you need to make the connection. The Black Stone requirement for a 45° angle of the regulator is ONLY for using a 1# disposable. The angle increases the surface area of the liquid to improve vaporization.

Sorry for a dumb question but what is a 1 disposable? I was thinking of getting the adapter to use a large tank on a small griddle

Never a dumb question
A 1# disposable is the short green cans meant for a single use. Often found as a 2 pack in the box stores for around $10
By all means get the adapter that screws into the BS regulator or get the BS adapter that moves the regulator to the tank
