Brand new to smoking

I'm from Longview, Tx looking to get into the art of smoking. Love cooking on grill though I'm amateur at best. My goal is to learn to master the grill and smoker. My wife bought me my first smoker for Father's Day and my uncle referred me here to get the best advice possible.

This weekend I'm thinking about doing a good brisket. First time. Questions about prep tips, time and temperature, etc? How big of a brisket to feed 8-10 people? As I've said already this is my first time, brand new to this so advice is greatly appreciated.
