Bone in butt fell apart

I just purchased a 10lb butt too smoke this weekend. Well, when I was getting it ready to put my rub on it, I picked it up and it almost fell in two halves. One half has bone in it and the other doesn't. Its still held together by a little strip of meat. I am new to this and was wondering if I should just leave it like that or should I split it in two and smoke it that way.

you could try using some kitchen twine and tie it back together like a roast. I don't think it would really matter either way.

Separate the two and they will cook faster, more bark too...JJ

More bark is a good thing. Finish cutting it.

It turned out great! The half with the bone in it took 2 hrs longer to cook than the other half, but they both tasted awesome.
