Took a spin in the woods, or what's left of the woods! Used to be a great place to spend a hot day. Two years ago a man made fire took care of that. Now it's dusty and dry and no shade!

Smoke away!!!

And the good news is......   It was a great day for a ride and in a few years that will be a lush green of grasses and baby trees feeding a menagerie of native wildlife...

And the bad news, it looks like krap now...

Will they let you in to cut firewood....   nice dry standing firewood....    perfect for sitting around with an adult beverage....

Nope. It's private timberland. No fire wood cutting allowed. They logged off what was salvageable, the rest they piled up to slash burn. Guess its to costly to sell as hog fuel.

I hope the scar in fills again. There's a few out in the Ochoco Mountains that are struggling. The bad thing is most the trees were giant Ponderosa pines. Slow growers. Time will tell.

Reminds me of the Yellowstone fires in 1988 - you can still see evidence of the fires (standing burnt trees) but the landscape is becoming lush again - just taking quite a bit of time.

Since this is private timber land, who knows when it will get replanted. Wouldn't mind drawing my muzzle loader tag for elk here again. There's a large heard that roams through and the signs looked great!

Beautiful scenery!

It would look awesome with you in the foreground executing the 'Superman"

Edit: oops, didn't read or notice the fire part at first glance.

Yeah too many smoked goods, beers, and a low geared bike to execute the Superman! Older age does that to a guy!
