Hi just recently received my big chief smoker. Curious when smoking beef sticks and jerky in it do I need to move meat to the oven to reach desirable temp. Or will I be able to do the whole cook in the big chief. Thx in advance
I will go out on a limb and say that you should be able to complete the process in your smoker, but I am not familiar with the smoker so I cannot speak with authority. I did some prowling around looking for recipes and such and this link is what I came up with. But it really doesn't address your question on beef sticks and jerky. The second link is from this forum. Old. But you should be able to PM some of the folks and get some answers. There are other sites and they are mostly concerned with smoking fish. Hope this helps.

Well, if you make sure and use recipes that have cure in them, your Big Chief smoker can and will smoke the goodies you mentioned no problem. Insulate the big chief if you are in a colder climate and it will cruise right along at 170-180 ( my personal experience) like it normally does when the outside temp
Is warmer.
Fish, Jerky, etc is what that smoker was made for.
