So last month one of our members posted that he has been using lilac wood to smoke
on. And he has for sale. So I sent him a check for $20 and this is what I got..
Boy do I feel stupid

Bummer, I think you should tell him you got the samples, when is you order coming

That sucks..... Have you asked for at least a partial refund... He did have to pay postage but he could have at least stuffed the box full... don't cost any more to send a full box......

That does suck but...

did the individual ever say exactly say how much wood you'd get for your $20?  There are way too many scams out there, yet the old saying, "Caveat emptor" is as true today as it was when it was first used.

I don't blame you for being upset, I know I would.  But you need to look back at the transaction and decide if you let yourself be ripped off or not.

You might want to use it sparingly @ $5.00 a stick,    By the way you ever tried willow ?  I'll send you 10 pieces for 20 bucks

Gary

At that rate, I have a few thousand dollars' worth of lilac that I'm tired of mowing around. Can an armoured car tow a chipper?

You know I thought we all shared a common bond on this forum and when one member does this kind of deception to a brother member it just hurts us all. The hell with the money. I'm here to share the fun of smoking
Not to make a profit!!?

Was this from a guy who only made one post on this forum, and that one post said to contact him???

If it was, I wouldn't compare him in any way to having a common bond with the smokers on this forum.

Wonder how many others got caught.

I'm just guessing but this guy only made one post back on May 8th:

I have lilac wood that is seasoned fed for a year for  smoking.  It is used for lamb, seafood, crawfish, fish, it will make pork taste sweet and I don't suggest using it wit beef.

Get a hold of me and I'll ship it to you fedex.

Mark

He stated Fed-X ,looks like post office box to me.  I beleive I'd drive nails in the wood , roll them in a fresh cow paddy and ship it all back to him with a little note telling him where to put it.

There are always going to be people like him.  But what goes around comes around.

This is the sellers words
Joe, I don't know but you will get quite a box of cut branches, you'll have to chip them for the smoker.
I thought I would get like 10lbs of wood

This sort of thing is really tragic on a forum like this. I guess theres no way to stop it, but it would be nice. I may be naive, but I would trust the folks here. Everyone seems to be on the right track and the same track. I can't change my mind about you folks because of one jerk. Joe

With shipping costs from the Post Office the member wasn't getting rich by any means but they could have packed more into that box with a little more effort and shipping would have been the same price.

I have shipped some wood to a few people but I go ahead and cut it into chunks that way I can pack the most into the flat rate boxes.
