Nice looking units . Interesting door swing on the dryer .
Mine are getting up there in age . Fixed both several times now .
Getting the HVAC replaced as I type . That one is gonna sting a bit .
Be nice to have the pair , and not worry about it .

yeah me too, fixed the washer with new struts but could not get the tub hub off with all the tricks I read about. I had my impact gun on it and it won't budge, when there is a heavy load it bangs all over. Oh did the central AC last year, $7k cash got that done.....

I'm $22.00 short of 10K . Got 19 years out of it . Be nice not to worry about it when it gets hot .
yeah we got 24 years out of the last one, can't really complain. It was still running but the "fins" were rotted out and one swipe with a weed wacker would have killed it. With both of us working from home, we could not chance being without it if it puked in the middle of the summer.

While I agree that a speed queen would be the best (especially an older one) they are very expensive. I chatted with a seasoned appliance repair guy and he provided me this specific model as the one he repairs the least and when he does it's almost always something a homeowner can handle. It's affordable, simple and nothing fancy to break.

We had a fancy top of the line before this one and had service out non-stop. We have had this one for 4 years and not a single issue with it plus it offers a deep water wash option like old school machines if you want.

I can't recall now but definitely got it from either Lowes or home depot with free delivery and setup.

Me either . I've been nursing this one along for the last few years . When he told me everything would be new , he wasn't kidding . Even pulled new low voltage in the wall for the thermostat .
Had 2 other bids that were about the same , but didn't include the therm , outside disconnect , new pad and landscape rock . Doing an awesome job too .
I also upgraded the filter to a 5 " . Less than 3 microns with a sealed door . Hope that keeps the dust down upstairs .
So everything from the main trunk line connection out to the condensing unit will be new .

My guys ran some "C" wire to a couple of the therms so I could use the wifi ones. Added and extra return for me at the top of the stairs. The original installer gave we a return way on the other side of the upstairs hall so it did not pull well from the first floor.

Everybody's got something big going on!

After 20yrs of a gravel driveway the asphalt is finally coming this Spring!
I hate my gravel driveway in PA, would probably hate the cost even more of a paved one. I paid $13K 10 years ago in NY and PA is much longer. Can't imagine the post covid cost for that. Contractors want $8k just to smooth it out with some drainage for another gravel one.

Went ahead and got the pair. Speed Queen washer and dryer.

I’m officially out of the dog house!
Thanks guys for suggesting Speed Queen!
Ordered a Speed Queen washer and dryer Monday. Should be 2-3 weeks or so before delivery, install and haul away. Hopefully the GE wont die before then, but it sounds bad.

I looked at the "high end" combo sets from Costco and they were nearly as much with too many negative reviews.

Awesome, I assure you both… you will be happy you went with SQ.

Not sure about your age but might be the last set you buy.
I hope so! The GE set that came with the house looked nice, but worked like crap. The washer started making loud screeching sounds along with other issues.

When I met my wife I had a set of Kenmore W&D i picked up at the Sears scratch and dent outlet. They lasted 25 years, left them in our old house when we moved-still working. kinda regretted that decision, till now.
