Cranking out the door. If Home Depot has the right latches (ACE was not the place) then I can give this new mod a try tonight or tomorrow! Going to try it without a gasket first. If it doesn't leak too bad then great. If it leaks really bad then I'll make one out of permatex.

Go gettum Case, If you can't make the mini pizza door work then no one can because you are the mini KING!    Good luck, it'll work great IMO!    

OBTW I can't imagine what you got in the mix next....maybe a tall mini with a door and multiple racks like a cabinet smoker.   That'll get your noodle thinking!

Thanks Dutch!  "What's all this?" is what I get! My wife cringes every time she sees a new piece of lumber or any metal object in the shop!

I will say that this guy smokes a great pizza! I plan on adding a terracotta plant tray where the upper rack is to direct the heat back down. Other than that it works great!

Still need a gasket but will work without one. It's pretty tight except at the bottom.

Ace is the place! Ace has all kinds of good stuff in there hardware drawers. These were about $6 ea. I was going to hinge one side but decided that it would more than likely just get in my way or not stay open or...

Very cool I'll be looking for your build! One thing that has really helped with heat is placing a diffuser on a rack above the opening. In the mini my cut out is 4 1/4" tall. That's from the steamer insert level to just below where the upper rack is in mine. I believe I set the upper rack @ 4" down from the top of the pot. Input a 12" terracotta plant tray up there, works great. I suppose if one wanted you could put fire bricks in the too but I'm not sure if there would be any benefit as it would take more time to warm them up.

The clasps were in the bulk bin area of my Ace. I had to do some looking, was surprised at all the strange things they had in those bins. Always thought it was just nuts and bolts!

I love what you've done with your mini! It took me forever trying to figure out how to get one pot and there is no way I'm cutting my baby up!!! Lol

I hope to upgrade my phone tomorrow so I can post some pics of my new toy...
